ASLTA and How it Works
Stefanie Saltern
This workshop will introduce the mission and goals of the American Sign Language Teacher's Association (ASLTA) including the Wisconsin chapter (WisASLTA). An overview of membership benefits and teacher's certification levels will be discussed. ASLTA's standards for teaching will address questions on who is qualified to teach ASL and where, when, or how ASL should be taught. Anyone who wants to support, promote, and advance the field of teaching ASL and Deaf Studies in all settings from K-12, post secondary, to lifelong learning will benefit from this workshop.
