Wisconsin Regional Signs - Faded but Not Forgotten

Presenter: Mike Ginter

Biography

No handouts for this presenter

The participants will get the opportunity to see at least 70 regional commonly used signs from the past generations.  Wisconsin native-signers will be displayed modeling those signs. ASL (like any other language) evolves which can create several variations of one sign.  Mike will discuss 4 variations that are significantly influencing the changes of ASL.  Since the usage of these signs still exist among the Wisconsin native-signers, this workshop is especially important for the interpreters and ASL specialists in order to enhance their understanding of ASL.  For this workshop, there will be the mixture of PowerPoint display, group discussions and historic pictures of early Wisconsin. The discussions and questions from the audience are strongly encouraged. All are welcome!
