Biography

For any student going to college, being prepared academically is just one component that makes for a successful transition.  For the Deaf and Hard of Hearing student, their transition to postsecondary is often more difficult because they may not have had the opportunity to have the same experiences as their hearing peers.    In this workshop, Ms. Kane will discuss four crucial transitional areas a Deaf/Hard of Hearing student needs to focus on in order to have a successful transition: academics, social, independent living and accommodations.  Drawing on her own experiences as well as numerous examples from others, Ms. Kane will share ideas and resources in empowering the Deaf/Hard of Hearing student in forging a successful transition.
